SUMMARY:AEA Session - Blue Marble Evaluation: transforming evaluation to in
form global transformation in the Anthropocene
DESCRIPTION:Summary: Taking a Blue Marble perspective means viewing the wor
ld holistically. It begins with watching for and interpreting interconnect
ions in the global system\, thus thinking beyond nation-states\, sector sil
oes\, and narrowly identified issues. Blue Marble evaluations assess globa
l-local interactions by observing and documenting contextual variations loc
ally within a coherent global pattern. Blue Marble Evaluation is not a spec
ific set of methods or measurements\, though treating the global system as
the focus of evaluation has major methodological and measurement implicatio
ns. Blue Marble evaluators must be able to communicate and work with the va
st array of people. Blue Marble evaluations must provide timely\, meaningfu
l\, relevant\, credible\, and actionable information in suppor of global sy
stems change and\, ultimately\, transformation\, thereby becoming part of t
he solution. This is a tall order! This session will provide some specific
examples of how a Blue Marble perspective is being incorporated in three di
 fferent evaluation practices.\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nSession Number: 2270\n\n\n\nT
